My research interests include the learning and development of individuals with learning disabilities as well as individuals on the autistic spectrum. I am also interested in ways of improving access to the curriculum for students with communication difficulties.

I gained my doctoral (PhD) thesis from University of Birmingham in December 2010. My thesis  explores the transition planning process for individuals with severe learning disabilities. My research investigated the social positions of each stakeholder at transition meetings and the power relationships between them. This incorporated whether individuals with learning disabilities can make choices and whether others perceive them to be choice makers.

To access the voices of young people I developed the idea of Collaboration Comics.
